JAKARTA. PT Freeport Indonesia, perusahaan tambang terbesar dunia menunda operasi tambangnya di Papua akibat konflik yang terjadi antar pekerja.

Seperti yang dilansir Bloomberg, Ramdani Sirait, Juru bicara Freeport mengatakan (26/2), konflik di tubuh pekerja tersebut membuat perusahaan tambang emas dan tembaga itu kesulitan untuk beroperasi.

Gangguan operasional perusahaan tambang emas dan tembaga bermula pada Jumat (24/2) lalu. Saat itu, sebagian karyawan disebutkan telah melakukan tindak kekerasan dan intimidasi terhadap sebagian karyawan yang selama ini tidak ikut aksi mogok menuntut kenaikan gaji.

Ramdani mengaku, pihaknya sedang mencari jalan keluar dan akan melakukan kerjasama dengan pimpinan Serikat Pekerja dan pejabat pemerintah. Sebelumnya, operasional Freeport Indonesia sempat menghentikan produksi karena aksi mogok karyawan yang menuntut kenaikan gaji.
