Persaingan Operator Telekomunikasi Sudah "Hiperkompetisi"

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Tingkat persaingan operator telekomunikasi kian ketat dalam merebut konsumen. Salah satu faktor yang bisa jadi pembeda dalam persaingan adalah jaringan operator.
 
Demikian disampaikan Vice President Technology Masterplan Telkomsel, Siswanto Dasijo, di Jakarta, Kamis (23/2/2012). Siswanto, mengungkapkan, pada tahun 2001, baru ada 4 operator telekomunikasi. Kini tercatat ada 11 operator telekomunikasi yang berbagi 274 juta pelanggan.
"Betapa tough-nya kompetisi di Indonesia. Sudah masuk dalam tahapan hiperkompetisi," ucap dia.
 
Dulu, kata dia, mungkin hanya butuh 3 kartu (sim card) untuk membuat pelanggan loyal. Tapi sekarang butuh 10 kartu untuk bisa buat konsumen setia. "Jadi dengan mudahnya pelanggan itu shift (pindah) dari suatu operator ke operator lainnya," tambah Siswanto.
 
Oleh sebab itu, tak pelak operator terus berinovasi untuk merebut hati konsumen. Menurut dia, persaingan operator kini telah masuk dalam era broadband. Bukan lagi era suara (voice). Artinya, operator kini sudah memosisikan dirinya juga sebagai penyedia jasa internet, seperti Smartfren ataupun Telkomsel.
 
"Sekarang per orang konsumsi hanya beberapa puluh mega byte per bulan someday akan menjadi satu giga," kata Siswanto.
 
Untuk itulah, lanjut dia, perlu inovasi di sisi operator untuk mengembangkan jaringan. Menurut catatan survei yang dilakukan MarkPlus Insight pada awal tahun 2012 , kualitas jaringan masih merupakan pertimbangan terpenting konsumen dalam memilih sebuah operator. Tak heran, karena faktor jaringan, Simpati dan Flexi berhasil meraih predikat operator GSM dan CDMA terpopuler pilihan masyarakat Indonesia.
