TANGERANG SELATAN, KOMPAS.com — Nadia Mutia Rahma, wanita muda ini terbilang sukses mengawali bisnisnya dengan produk sepatu kayu. Dengan nama Kloom Clogs, Nadia meraup omzet hingga Rp 250 juta per bulan untuk pasar lokal dan juga ratusan juta untuk pasar mancanegara. Penghasilannya kini tentu tak lepas dari kerja kerasnya.
Warga Nusa Loka, BSD City, ini mendesain sendiri sepatu kayunya. Nadia mengaku memang menyukai desain sejak kecil. Saking senangnya, Nadia kecil pernah menggunting-gunting gorden rumah untuk "prakarya" isengnya.
Setelah beranjak dewasa, Nadia makin senang menekuni kegemarannya itu. Perjalanan awal usahanya ini tidak semulus yang dibayangkan. Ia terpaksa menjual mobil yang dibelinya sendiri demi modal usaha sepatu ini.
"Modalnya seharga satu mobil, he-he-he. Waktu itu mama aku belum kasih modal, jadi sewaktu (sekolah) di Jepang, aku sempat kerja part time. Saat pulang ke Indonesia sempat beli satu mobil, terus mobilnya dijual, itu di tahun 2000-an," kata perempuan 22 tahun itu kepada Kompas.com.
Modal sudah didapat, kendala lain muncul. Wanita yang besar di Yogyakarta itu sempat mengalami kesulitan ketika mencari perajin sepatu kayu di Kota Pelajar tersebut. Di sana, para perajin terbiasa membuat sepatu dengan model biasa, tidak seperti sepatu dengan sentuhan bergaya Eropa rancangan Nadia. Setelah berbulan-bulan mencari, barulah ia menemukan perajin yang sesuai.
Dari modal tersebut, Nadia menggunakannya untuk membeli bahan baku dan membayar pengrajin. Kendala lainnya muncul lagi. Ia harus berusaha keras melakukan percobaan terhadap produk sepatu kayunya hingga mendapatkan bentuk yang pas dan nyaman dipakai.
Bermacam-macam jenis kayu diuji sebagai bahan utama sepatu. Untuk sepatunya, Nadia banyak menggunakan kayu sampang dan mahoni yang diambilnya dari Garut hingga Kalimantan. "Kayunya macam-macam, semuanya dari Indonesia,” ujar wanita kelahiran 12 Juni 1989 ini.
Meski berbahan kayu, sepatu Kloom Clogs tergolong ringan saat digunakan. Nadia mengatakan, ada teknik khusus untuk mengolah kayu tersebut menjadi ringan dan awet. "Ada teknik khusus, seperti getahnya harus diambil terlebih dahulu, dijemur atau direndam selama beberapa jam, dan sebagainya. Pokoknya membuat kayu menjadi ringan dan awet," ujarnya.
